With this final installment of pictures, we have ended our 6 days learning journey. We would like to thank all the parents for your support and we hope you can continue to support your child in his/her respective UG.
Today, we visited the Swan Bell Tower and the Perth Train Station. The afternoon is spent stocking up on souvenirs and gifts at the Hay Street and Murray Street Malls. Do check out what we did in the photos and there is a nice surprise at the end of the day 5 photo gallery.
Please note that we will not be updating the blog tomorrow as we will be out the whole day followed by the night flight back to Singapore. Looking forward to seeing all of you at the airport on 3 Dec! : )
We checked out of the campsite and headed towards Fremantle and Perth for the next phase of our journey. We visited Raeburn Orchard along the way where we tasted the really fresh fruits that were just picked from the trees.
At Fremantle, we had fish and chip at Cicerello's and quite a number of us cannot finish the portion of food given. After lunch we visited Fremantle Prison where we learn about the cultural and historical background behind the facility. Then after, it is shopping time for souvenirs at Fremantle Markets and E Shed Markets. We checked into Aaron Hotel at Perth City in the evening.
Tomorrow will be a more relaxed day as we visit the Bell Tower and other sights near our hotel.
The children had lots of activities today, ranging from archery, confidence course, tunnelling, all the way to environmental awareness programme and campfire. More details can be seen from the online photo album.
We will be leaving for Fremantle and Perth tomorrow morning and off to our learning journeys phase of our trip.
Apologies for the delayed telecast as it is not easy to get an area with internet access in the campsite area. If you do not see updates on the 3rd night too, just check back the next night and we should be up and running.
Day 2 is the warm up phase for our trip. As the weather is atypically cool in Perth, there are lesser flies compared to last year. We started off by visiting Peel Zoo in the morning and there are plenty of interactions with the animals there such as kangaroos, fox, koala bears and alpacas.
In the afternoon, the children get to stretch their muscles and build up their confidence by going through various high elements and rock climbing. They also had the chance to play beach volleyball, not at the beach, but at the indoor beach volleyball court. That is really pretty cool, imagine a beach indoor. Most of the children at pretty tired at the end of the session and slept on the way back to camp.
Once back in camp, we shifted into the tents where we will be sleeping in for the next 2 nights. Our hosts are really excellent, bringing us mattresses and additional sleeping bags so that the children will not feel overly cold at night. Three cheers for our Australian hosts! As for the campsite area, we are literally in the outbacks, and it is common to see families of kangaroos jumping near our camping area or even possums up in the trees.
In the evening, we went for the highlight of our camp, a 250m long aerial runway down the hill and it was an exhilarating experience. The setting sun and the beautiful scenery adds to the joy of going down 250m at high speed.
Do look out for the next update as the children will be having fun in the activities with the Australian Cub Scouts.
It is a wonderful day as the weather in Perth is cool. We settled in at the dormitory and explored the grounds nearby. At dinner time, it is quite a learning experience for some of the children as they did not know washing dishes requires detergent. They thought washing dishes is just cleaning the plates with water. We believe there will be many more learning experiences in the days to come and these are skills that will stay with them forever. : )
Hi boys and girls, do check out the video above and learn a fast method to fold your clothes. Will save us lots of time when you repack your luggage. If you see this post in time, do bring along a T-shirt on Thursday and we can practise together or even challenge each other!
Please try to practise the song at home before you come for the training session. You can watch the MTV and the lyrics are below.
HOME
Whenever I am feeling low I look around me and I know There's a place that will stay within me Wherever I may choose to go I will always recall the city Know every street and shore Sail down the river which brings us life Winding through my Singapore
Chorus: This is home truly, where I know I must be Where my dreams wait for me, where that river always flows This is home surely, as my senses tell me This is where I won't be alone, for this is where I know it's home
When there are troubles to go through We'll find a way to start anew There is comfort in the knowledge That home's about its people too So we'll build our dreams together Just like we've done before Just like the river which brings us life There'll always be Singapore
(Repeat Chorus)
For this is where I know it's home For this is where I know I'm home
We will be posting up questions asked by parents which may be of interest to all.
Q: Is there a need to get flu immunisation before going? A: There is no requirement by Singapore or Australia authority for flu immunisation but parents can go ahead if they wish to.
